Gosick 08It's rather hard for me to find the character names, considering that each case feature different characters altogether, except the main cast. Previously, Victorique and Kujo arrive at the Village, and two deaths occur shortly during the Summer Solstice festival.

Victorique picks up the clue of the hazelnut that was dropped beside Raoul's body They proceed to hide in the church at night to wait for the thief, Derek Banks. Just when the thief was about to get away, Grevil arrives and captures him. Victorique then proceeds on to explain how Derek tries to frame Elder Sergius for the murder in the mountains. The Elder is impressed how he managed to clear his name with Victorique's help. He also proclaims the territory is Seyrun country, not part of Saubure, thus leaving Grevil with no choice but unable to bring the thief back for justice.
Next, Victorique asks Ambrose and Kujo for help to prove Cordelia's innocence. They managed to get Harminia to confess her killing of Elder Theodore through a ritual in which ancestral spirits would supposedly arrive to possess the ritual-takers.

Victorique explains how she figured it out. "The pigeons flew away". She and the maid Harminia had a conversation earlier in the study, the same murder scene 20 years ago. On a side note, the background music here is really, tasteful. She explains how Harminia hid in the grandfather clock, and then murdered Elder Theodore, and hid back in. Cordelia then chanced upon the scene and was thus framed.
Harminia was brought to Elder Sergius' questioning, and he decided to execute her (just as predicted by an oracle by Elder Theodore). The servant Ambrose guy sort of refuses to execute her when given the sword, and instead asks Harminia to run. Just then, fires are started around the village.
A fight scene occurs. Kujo vs Harminia. She became a spearwoman?! With Ambrose's help, Kujo wins, and then the team runs through the burning bridge to escape from the village. Then... Kujo falls.

But Victorique saves him. [Most touching scene so far]
From faraway, some guy comments to a woman (Cordelia?) "can you see it? your sin going down in flames."
Kujo, Victorique, Ambrose, Grevil, Grevil's ally (another woman) made it onto a horse carriage and at the train station, Ambrose commented on why Kujo and Victorique made the same wish from the oracle by the Elder. (Victorique previously bluffed Kujo that she wanted to see if she would get taller. Haha!) And it was something like: "Whether we could be together forever..?" ~~ Kujo offers his hands out, but Victorique hides hers (because her hands got burnt and she didn't want him to worry..?).

Next episode 09: Blue Roses Bloom in the Cannibal Department Store. Seems like a fun episode next! I'm going to get more of the light novels from Gosick.
Index II 20The plot has gotten very messy on all fronts; as I had expected before, previously each time Index had a conflict in a plot arc, it was usually only either the science side or the magic side. This time, it's probably the first time on anime that both are involved so heavily, so things have gotten sort of messy. J.C. Staff still presents it all, but if you haven't read the novels (like me), be prepared to take some time to absorb in what happened.
A quick recap on this episode:
Accelerator manages to escape from Kihara, and together with Index they hijack someone's car and make an escape to find the Frog-faced doctor. Later, Accelerator heads to a factory to cleanse off his scent to prevent his enemies from finding him.
Touma chances upon Last Order and both try to escape from the Hound Dogs. Halfway though, his enemies collapsed and Touma realises that he has to fight Vento the Front, because of the order given by the Roman Church to eliminate Touma. He sends Last Order away to find help.
One by one, the members of Judgement and Anti-skill collapse... Including Yomikawa-sensei and Uiharu. Tsuchimikado also makes an appearance and it seems that he knows who has been trying to invade Academy City.
Next episode 21: Testament.
