Yumekui Merry episode 06:
During the fight last episode with a dream demon, Yumeji gets injured while trying to save Merry. Enraged, Merry goes into berserk mode and whips the heck out of the dream demon, who retreats into Yui's body.

When Yumeji and Merry get back into reality, Yumeji appears alright, but later falls unconscious. Merry gets emotional and refuses to leave Yumeji's side. Meanwhile, Tachibana and friends in school discuss the Dream Loss syndrome encountered by several schoolmates, who suddenly loss interest in working towards their dreams.

The Chaser John Doe visits Yumeji alone and heals him, telling him that Merry is one of the "Muma" (dream demon) that was unfortunately dragged into reality against her wishes, at the same time when Heracles, a leader of sorts to the "Muma", visited the reality. The Chaser notes that he is an "ally of truth" and informs Yumeji that "you strength in the dream is the strength of your feelings", and warns him of another far more dangerous "Muma" named The Sea of Trees, Mistorteen. The Chaser then returns Yumeji to the reality.

Thoughts:
An awesome fight scene, fanservice cat girls, and a denser plot that puts The Chaser into the good guys side and leads us to Merry's past and future. Seems like Merry's gotten really close to Yumeji already! Plot turned better here than what I expected at the beginning few episodes. Listen to the background music for a feel of its uniquely unconventional chords, it's a notch up compared to most of this genre's type. Fortunately or not, the next episode is the usual bikini special by J.C. Staff.
Mahou Shoujo Madoka episode 06:Interestingly, there's a little bit of changes to the OP animation at the starting just before Madoka's transformation. Shall see if its going to change more along the way as Madoka slowly edges towards her finale.

Peace-loving Homura interrupts the fight between Sayaka and Kyoko Sakura, and explains that she sides with neither of them before Kyoko retreats for the day. Sayaka reflects on her actions with Kyubey and rejects his/her invitation to get Madoka into the act.

Then we have Kyoko dancing to an instrumental rendition of [Connect] by ClariS on an arcade dance machine whilst eating a Pocky, and Homura informs her that she is best suited for the territory, and makes a bet that if Kyoko wins against a Wal?-something next week, Homura will leave this city. Madoka confronts Sayaka on her next witch-hunting, but is told to get away when Sayaka stubbornly believes in herself to save others from the witches.

The logic-bending argument that Madoka's mom explains to her is rather perplexing; doing the right thing many times doesn't guarantee a happy ending, it just drives happiness away. The words of wisdom passed to Madoka is that someone should just make mistakes for Sayaka to reflect upon.

Kyoko challenges Sayaka to a fight by pissing her off; just as Sayaka was about to transform, Madoka rushes to the scene, and Homura teleports in (in a rather comical way), saying that she would instead fight Kyoko if she insisted.

Trying to save Sayaka, Madoka grabs onto Sayaka's Soul Gem and flings it down the bridge onto a passing truck. Sayaka then passes out.
Then Kyubey explains that...
...Madoka has just threw Sayaka's soul away from her body, and further explains that in becoming a magical girl, he/she draws out the soul of the person into the form of a Soul Gem in order for repairs using magic to be possible on the human body after sustaining injuries. As long as the Soul Gem does not break, the body is technically invincible, but if the Soul Gem is separated from the body by more than 100 metres, the body becomes just an empty shell, as the soul from the Soul Gem has to be nearby to control the body.
Kyoko turns her fury towards Kyubey when she learnt the truth. Homura teleports after the truck and manages to recover Sayaka's Soul Gem, and brings it back to her body.
Next up: Episode 7. Can you face your true feelings?

Thoughts:
What an intelligently haunting twist to the mahou shoujo genre; aside from having Mami-san killed, the director then rips their soul out into a piece of artifact that requires food to sustain. There isn't any change to the battle music, thankfully, and surprisingly the camera angle seems to capture Madoka's emotions really well this time. Kyubey seems to have gained an even worse notoriousness for performing something so taboo. It'll be interesting to understand Kyubey's true intentions, so we shall stick around for the next episode.
