Episode 05 Puella Magi Madoka Magica

As recalled in episode 4, Madoka's close friend Sayaka has already transformed into a Mahou Shoujo and wields a magical sword. Here in the pre-OP scene she is shown to have made the contract with that fluffy dangerous furball Kyubey. There's quite a large amount of reference to indicate that Kyubey has some sort of evil agenda off his/her mind, like the moments where he/she uses the desperate situations that the girls face to coerce them to transform into a mahou shoujo. Add the Faust image to the shadowy graphical representation this time around, and we may have an idea of what Kyubey ACTUALLY is.

Since there is no adaptation material like light novels to know what's in store next, its anyone's guess as to what direction this title may end up going, but then again its sure that SHAFT is taking us for a very good ride this season.
Sayaka initiates a lengthy chat with Madoka, telling her how cheerful she is being a Mahou Shoujo and all that, while Madoka seemed to be quite depressed whenever she remembers what happened in episode 3 because of its relation to the grief seed that Sayaka showed her.

Later on, Sayaka visits Kyousuke and realises that her wish had been granted into reality and that his hands have recovered. She brings him up to the rooftop, where his family was waiting for him to play the violin once again.

Meanwhile, in a rather eerily empty restaurant or cafe, Madoka talks to Homura about her concerns about Sayaka, not wanting her to suffer the same fate as Mami, though Homura's words do nothing to comfort her.

Later that day, Madoka joins Sayaka on patrol, where they find another witch, but her attempts to stop it escaping are thwarted by the arrival of Kyōko.

As Kyōko puts across her claim to the territory and angers Sayaka by insulting Mami, the two magical girls start to fight fiercely against each other, with Madoka unable to do anything to stop them. As Kyōko gets the upper hand on Sayaka, Madoka considers using her wish to stop the fighting, but Homura soon intervenes the battle.

Next episode... Madoka without a WIDE face is so.. loli-cious.
